The problem with the Fed is that most Americans react to anything about it like that Danziger cartoon today showing how reporters have reacted to Governor Sanford’s announcement of infidelity. The Big Snooze….I just don’t think the American people can get it given everything else on their plates…but it is utterly essential that we transform the Fed along with the rest of the systemic incompetence, fraud, and out-and-out thievery.

Well said. And what a question that was so obvious for any reporter worth his or her salt — “who is waging this war, Mr. Buffett?” “What side are we, the people, on?” “who has the weapons of this war?” “who started it and how and why?”

It’s discouraging how often reporters do not ask the most obvious questions staring them right in the face.

“Most people believe our government creates our money and that the Federal Reserve, that oversees it, is a government agency. Wrong on both counts.” So tell us whow money is actually created and what exactly the Federal Reserve is. I want to hear more….

Leave it up to America to somehow associate death and benefit in the same phrase. Let’s certainly not recognize mourning and bereavement and depression and sadness and, oh my god, actual tears. Standing at attention, firing a 21 gun salute, giving the widow a flag and his medals (as well as a death benefit from the military), keeping a stiff upper lip, underscoring the sacrifice, and standing tall are the ways we honor the “fallen” or those who have “passed” (otherwise known as “the dead”), but which don’t address the living at all. Corporations that do have some kind of bereavement policy are rare and simply give unpaid time off. As you say, most of the rest of us (the absolute vast majority of Americans) have to get creative, which usually doesn’t leave alot of time for grief.

And now we hear AIG is not content with what it got, and they need more billions of taxpayer money. Any AIG corporate executive who gets a bonus or a golden parachute of any kind ought to be arrested for felony theft, embezzlement of taxpayer funds, and lying to Congress. For that matter, any corporate executive who is associated with any corporation that benefits from the, quite possibly, over trillion dollars in taxpayer bailout money who receives any kind of bonus or monetary reward ought to suffer the same fate. But we both know that’s not going to happen, don’t we?
